Tradition 11

"To us, it represents far more than a sound public relations policy. It is more than a denial of self-seeking. This Tradition is a constant and practical reminder that personal ambition has no place in AA." -Twelve & Twelve

And here is the sticking point for me. Is this blog in alignment with Tradition 11? Am I self-seeking and what, if any, personal ambition is involved here? I am struggling with this a bit. I love having a place to note the journey- outside of a journal. Especially a place with so many creative possibilities. I love the ability to connect with others in recovery here.

I am conscious of the importance of personal anonymity on a public level - and all traces of my identity are removed from this site (unless you count the fuzzy glam shots from yesterday). So that is not my primary concern. My concern is about personal ambition and self-seeking; just because it makes me happy to post about recovery issues, doesn't mean that I'm in keeping with this Tradition.

It makes me think that the theme of a Step/Tradition a month isn't such a good one. Maybe I need to keep the AA/Alanon connection loose. Don't know. I'll give it some prayer & meditation. . .

Today I am grateful. . .
  • for the time change; it is helping with my shift to earlier sleep habits
  • for my sweet dogs, who like to wake up slowly, like me
  • for this time in early morning to do this practice. I am blessed with it, and know not everyone has this luxury, and I am grateful for it.

It is, indeed, a luxury to sit in the early morning, reading my meditations, praying and writing my daily post. Along with a cup of coffee.
