Too long
It's been too long since I've been here. Just got to busy with all my other ways of communicating and this blog pretty much slipped off the radar.
OK, for real. Facebook. That's what happened. Facebook.
I was fickle in the day and have still list toward that character defect...
Facebook is funner. But then that's not the point of this blog. The point of this blog is to help me remember that I have so much to be grateful for. And to honor those blessings. That's fun too, actually.
So. Today I am grateful...
•that I remembered a special birthday yesterday. And another one coming up tomorrow.
•that I was asked to participate in a panel discussion at an upcoming conference.
•for the apple on my desk.
•that it snowed this week.
•that even though I am missing a favorite pair of shoes and I am completely flummoxed and frustrated by it, that I have other shoes to wear.
•for sponsees that keep it real when I sort of float off into my sky cave.

Homeday
"Today, I've learned to run my thinking by others in the fellowship and to turn my fears over to God. Today I listen less to my thoughts and instead pay attention to the reality of my life. When I do this, I'm able to be present for the miracle my life is today, and I'm able to be happy, joyous and free.
Today I'm grateful that what's going on in my head isn't happening in my life." -Wisdom of the Rooms
I am grateful today. . .
• for a day off. A long weekend.
• for the clarity that comes with R&R.
• for progress on the painting.
• for beautiful sunshine out today.
• for sponsees who fill my life with hope.
• that the elections are almost. finally. over.

Sunday
Love, and the hope of it are not things one can learn; they are a part of life's heritage. - Maria Montessori
I am grateful today. . .
• for an extra hour this morning.
• for an extraordinary wake up call from 1600 miles away.
• for the courage and means to be making plans for various journeys and reunions.
• for fellowship with people I love last night.
• that love is all around, no need to fake it...
• that the truth really does set me free.
Love is a gift we've been given by our creator. The fact of our existence guarantees that we deserve it. As the recognition of this grows, so does our self-love and our ability to love others. -Each Day a New Beginning

Satathomeday
I am grateful...
• for a day of rest and relaxation.
• for so much to look forward to.
• for a long, sweet conversation with P. last night.
• that I feel rested for the first time in weeks and weeks.
• that I may just end up staying in for the rest of the day. Or I may end up going out!
• for so many choices.
• for a great counselor.
"I believe I have developed a special sight for gorgeous moments. They occur around us all the time, in the most ordinary settings, but you must pay attention.
There is a bus driver I call "popsicles and broccoli" because he told me that he eats a lot of both to stay in shape. Mostly, he celebrates every person getting on the bus with an incandescent smile and words to help people laugh." - SARK

Real Love
(Playin' Real Love in my car is going to get me another speeding ticket. I just know it. Also Little Honey. Damn.)
I am grateful...
• that Lucinda finally found a real good man and some real good love.
• that a little good music is all it takes to make me happy.
• for a little less pressure at work today.
• for some progress on the painting (but not enough to want to post a photo... yet!)
• for solitude.
• for a great drive tonight with all the windows down, moon roof open and wind in my hair.

The Whole World
"Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you."
-Tao Te Ching
I am grateful today. . .
• that my world is brimming and expansive.
• that my discomfort– to date– has always ended up being temporary.
• for connectedness.
• for the right to vote, which I exercised today. It made me very happy.
• that lately, I have been reminded daily that sobriety is a tremendous and fragile gift.
In your prayers for those who are still suffering, please include K.

Sunday Sunrise
Ben Sollee - How to See the Sun Rise
"...if we ignore the discomfort we feel when our group seems to wander too far from the Traditions, we ask ourselves if we are seeking peace at any price as we may have done in our alcoholic homes." -Paths to Recovery, pg 165
Today I'm grateful...
• for Ben Sollee. Great Sunday morning music.
• for train whistles.
• that shortly, I'll have cinnamon toast.
• that the long grueling Saturday is finished and we accomplished what we needed to do.
• for photos in my inbox from yesterday's Georgia Tech game.
